The Outer Contour System is a fully automated vehicle exterior dimension inspection system based on laser 3D scanning technology. By strategically deploying multiple high-precision LiDAR sensors (covering width-height, length-height, and lateral measurements), the system can construct a high-density 3D point cloud model of a vehicle in real time as it passes at high speed, accurately calculating its geometric parameters such as length, width, and height.
The system offers a variety of flexible installation topologies, including single-bar, dual-bar, and triple-bar configurations, enabling it to adapt to diverse and complex scenarios—from narrow lanes to extra-wide lanes, and from single-vehicle passage to continuous traffic flow. Holographic scanning, revealing every detail.
The system integrates data from the “height radar” located at the top, the “width and height radar” on the sides, and the “blind-spot radar” positioned diagonally.
This multi-view orthogonal scanning not only calculates the maximum outer dimensions—length, width, and height—but also clearly reconstructs the cab shape of the vehicle, the stacking configuration of the cargo, and even the details of the tow bar. The resulting color point cloud not only provides highly accurate data but also serves as intuitive enforcement evidence, leaving no room for evasion of over-limit violations.

Intelligent separation, automatic noise reduction
Based on years of accumulated traffic data, the outer contour system is equipped with a powerful data processing control cabinet.
The built-in algorithm can automatically eliminate false detections caused by road reflections, interference from flying birds, and trailer towbars. Particularly in scenarios involving following vehicles, the system can achieve highly accurate automatic vehicle separation by analyzing point cloud features at the front and rear of the vehicles, ensuring that each vehicle is accurately assigned to its own lane without data overlap.

Automatic calibration, minimalist operations and maintenance
Traditional multi-sensor system calibration is complex. The outer contour system features an automatic self-check upon power-on and automatic parameter compensation functionality.
The system supports remote status monitoring and fault diagnosis, eliminating the need for maintenance personnel to frequently climb ladders for adjustments. The core sensors feature industrial-grade IP67 protection, enabling them to operate stably over the long term even under outdoor conditions exposed to wind and sunlight, thereby significantly reducing lifecycle maintenance costs.
