Platform screen door active protection against pinching and foreign objects in gaps

During peak hours on subways and high-speed railways, passengers frequently rush to board and alight, making it highly likely for incidents involving people being caught in platform screen doors to occur. Such incidents can range from minor delays to serious personal injuries. Traditional contact-based safety sensors are “passive protections”—they only trigger a rebound after an object has already been caught, posing injury risks and exhibiting delayed responses. Moreover, some older lines even lack effective anti-pinch mechanisms altogether. The core challenge in ensuring operational safety lies in precisely detecting tiny objects—such as children’s hands or backpack straps—in the final few seconds before the platform screen doors close, and immediately activating braking without any physical contact.

Application Logic: Deploy YINTAILI’s safety-grade laser scanning sensors (such as the T61) on the top or side of the platform screen door units. The LiDAR creates an invisible “virtual light curtain protective wall” between the sliding doors of the platform screen doors. When the platform screen doors receive a closing command and begin to close, the radar simultaneously initiates high-frequency scanning. As soon as it detects any part of a passenger’s body or foreign objects intruding into the light curtain area, the radar will send an interrupt signal to the Door Control Unit (DCU) within milliseconds, forcing the platform screen doors to halt closing or automatically rebound, thereby providing proactive protection before physical contact occurs.

Technological Advantages: This solution represents a qualitative leap from “post-event remediation” to “proactive prevention.” The system boasts an exceptionally high response speed (response time ≤ 8 ms) and the ability to detect even tiny objects—its minimum detectable target size is just 25 mm (equivalent to a child’s fingertip), completely eliminating detection blind spots. The LiDAR utilizes a 905 nm eye-safe light source and incorporates a built-in anti-interference algorithm, ensuring that it remains fully unaffected by strong ambient light, flickering lights, or changing shadows on station platforms. Additionally, the system supports flexible installation options—both top-mounted and side-mounted—making it perfectly suited for retrofitting existing lines as well as new construction projects.
