Anti-collision protection for Overhead Hoist Transporters (OHTs) in the synthetic fiber workshop
In modern fiber-optic manufacturing plants, Automated Material Handling Systems (AMHS) are becoming increasingly widespread. Often, multiple Overhead Hoist Transporters (OHTs) need to operate at high density and high speed on the same single-track system. Due to the heavy loads carried by these vehicles—each loaded with full bobbins—and their substantial inertia, coupled with the fact that the tracks typically run above equipment, a rear-end collision or an impact with obstacles such as track maintenance ladders could not only pose a serious risk of objects falling from height but also bring the entire material handling line to a standstill. Traditional contact-type anti-collision barriers can only take effect once a collision has already occurred; they are unable to maintain a safe distance in a non-contact manner.
Application Logic: At the front end of each aerial railcar’s direction of travel, an ILS-F20 safety-grade LiDAR from YINTAILI Technology is installed. The radar moves along with the vehicle, continuously scanning the “aerial corridor” ahead of the track in real time.
① Rear-end collision prevention: When the radar detects that the vehicle ahead in the same lane is too close, the F20 activates a deceleration signal to ensure the vehicle maintains a safe following distance.
② Path Obstacle Avoidance: If an object appears ahead on the track (such as a repair worker’s ladder or loose cable structures), the F20 immediately triggers an emergency stop signal, forcing the vehicle to come to a halt before a collision occurs.
Technological Advantages: The F20 boasts a wide field of view of 270°, perfectly covering the three-dimensional space ahead of the railcar. Its exceptional vibration resistance enables it to withstand the continuous vibrations experienced during high-speed operation of rail vehicles. In response to the potentially dusty environment found in chemical fiber workshops, the F20’s advanced built-in filtering algorithm can effectively penetrate dust and fiber interference, ensuring that even in harsh conditions, it can accurately distinguish between “genuine obstacles” and “false interference,” thereby guaranteeing the safe and smooth flow of aerial logistics arteries.
