Flexible Obstacle Avoidance and Area Safety Protection for Mobile Robots (AGV/AMR)

Scenario Requirements and Pain Points:
At e-commerce sorting or material-handling sites, a large number of recessed AGVs need to swiftly navigate through narrow aisleways between shelves, with human-robot collaboration becoming the new normal. Traditional mechanical bumpers can only trigger after a collision has already occurred—acting as a “post-event remedy”—and thus cannot prevent collision-related damage. Meanwhile, conventional infrared sensors have a short detection range and are heavily affected by light interference, making it difficult to detect personnel wearing dark clothing or black obstacles. Moreover, when AGVs turn in narrow aisles, their fixed-shaped detection zones tend to easily scan the shelf uprights on either side, leading to frequent false alarms and unnecessary stops, which severely hamper logistics efficiency.

Application Logic:
An F31-C / F51 / F61 obstacle-avoidance laser radar is embedded and installed at the diagonal positions (or at the front and rear ends) of the AGV vehicle chassis. As the vehicle moves, the radar dynamically constructs a 270° electronic safety protection zone that covers the entire perimeter of the vehicle body.

Hierarchical Protection: Set up multi-level zones for “deceleration” and “stop.” When an obstacle is detected, first decelerate; when approaching the obstacle closely, initiate an emergency stop.

Dynamic switching: The AGV controller, based on the vehicle’s driving status (straight travel, left turn, right turn), uses I/O signals to dynamically notify the radar to switch among the pre-set 16 protection zones in real time, ensuring that the detection area follows and adjusts accordingly during turns, thereby perfectly avoiding interference from shelving.

Technological Advantages:
This product series is specifically designed for “optimal cost-performance ratio” and “compact integration.” In particular, the F61 further reduces the device’s height while maintaining high performance, making it an ideal fit for the installation space of ultra-thin, recessed AGVs. The F51, on the other hand, meets the stringent supply-chain security requirements of special projects by ensuring 100% domestic production. All products in this series feature exceptional object-detection capabilities with low reflectivity—enabling them to respond sensitively even when confronted with highly absorbent black obstacles. Coupled with an IP65 protection rating, these devices deliver reliable protection in dusty and complex warehouse environments, achieving “zero false alarms and zero missed detections.”
