Three-dimensional stereoscopic safety protection for robotic arm workstations

In modern factories where human-robot collaboration is becoming increasingly close, traditional two-dimensional safety protection measures—such as safety light curtains, safety mats, or 2D LiDAR—can no longer adequately meet the demands of complex three-dimensional safety protection. When robotic arms perform tasks like palletizing or assembly, their motion trajectories are three-dimensional, posing not only horizontal collision risks but also irregular danger zones from above or the sides. Operators may inadvertently extend their limbs into the robotic arm’s operational envelope, or workpieces might accidentally fall—both scenarios that conventional planar sensors often “overlook,” leaving significant safety blind spots.

Application Logic: Deploy YINTAILI’s ILS-T61 3D stereoscopic protective LiDAR above or to the side of the robotic arm workstation. The radar projects a high-density planar laser beam into the work area, creating a “3D virtual safety cage” that encloses both the robotic arm and the working space.
① 3D Monitoring: The system monitors in real time to detect whether any human limbs, heads, or foreign objects have entered this three-dimensional space.
② Adaptive Protection: Leveraging the T61’s “Background Clipping” function, you can flexibly define irregular 3D protection zones, effectively shielding fixed mechanical structures or normal workpiece entry and exit. The system will trigger an emergency stop signal only when detecting abnormal intrusions.

Technological Advantages: The T61 employs advanced Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology, enabling it to deliver real-time depth point clouds at a high frame rate of 30 fps with a resolution of 320×240. It can detect objects as small as 2 cm, even capturing intrusions as subtle as a fingertip in an instant. With its compact form factor of just 97 mm × 47 mm × 23 mm, the T61 is easy to integrate into various systems. It also boasts an IP65 protection rating and exceptional resistance to ambient light interference (up to 10,000 lux). Compared to costly 3D vision solutions, the T61 offers an industrial-grade stereo safety solution that provides higher cost-effectiveness, easier deployment, and is unaffected by lighting conditions—providing robust security for “fenceless” human-robot collaboration scenarios.
