3D stereoscopic protection for the injection molding machine’s clamping area and part-taking station.

In injection molding production, operators often need to perform spot checks or auxiliary tasks near the mold-closing area, at locations along the conveyor belt. Although the equipment is equipped with safety guards, when opening the doors to retrieve parts, adjusting or repairing molds, or dealing with robotic arm malfunctions, personnel still face risks of being squeezed by the high-pressure mold-closing mechanism or struck by the robotic arm. Traditional two-dimensional light curtains can only create a “line” of protection on the outside; once a person steps beyond the light curtain into the equipment’s blind zone, the protective barrier immediately becomes ineffective, posing significant safety hazards.

Application Logic: A YINTAILI ILS-T61 3D stereoscopic protective lidar is suspended and installed above the operator’s side of the injection molding machine. The radar scans obliquely downward, creating an invisible “3D safety cage” in the operational space between the conveyor belt and the mold.
① 3D Intrusion Detection: The system monitors in real time whether any person’s head, arms, or body has intruded into the 3D space.
② Logical interlock: The injection molding machine is allowed to perform the mold-closing action or the robotic arm to operate only when T61 confirms that the three-dimensional area is free of personnel and foreign objects. Once an intrusion is detected, an emergency stop is immediately triggered to prevent accidental equipment startup and potential injury.

Technological Advantages: The T61, based on advanced ToF 3D imaging technology, completely resolves the “planar blind zone” issue inherent in traditional sensors. By leveraging point cloud depth information, it can precisely distinguish between fixed machine structures (such as conveyor belt supports) and dynamically moving human bodies, supporting background cropping functionality and allowing flexible definition of irregular protection boundaries. With an IP65 protection rating and exceptional resistance to light interference, the T61 is well-suited to the complex lighting conditions and environments found in injection molding workshops, providing safety redundancy that goes beyond standard requirements for injection molding production.
